Second Annual Golf Tournament Raises Scholarship Money and Provides Networking for Facility ProfessionalsIn spite of tough economic times, 142 golfers (20 more than 2011) showed their support for the Facility Manager Association of New Mexico in its effort to raise money for scholarships at Central New Mexico Community College by golfing on all three nines at the beautiful Isleta Eagle Championship Golf Course on July 20th, 2012. The reward for their participation was a great day of camaraderie, spirited competition, food and beverages, and avalanches of door prizes walking out the door with players and golf-helpers alike. The spirit and loyalty of FMA’s members and constituents was the deciding factor for the huge success. Distinct contributions, both large and small, from countless companies and outstanding individuals personalized the gathering. Most companies fielded a team or multiple teams of golfers as they competed in the Championship Division to win an esteemed travelling gold trophy. But the golfers in the ABCD Scramble Division enjoyed the outing too. Travers Mechanical had an amazing four 4-man teams of facility managers on the course. Three 10-foot tables loaded with valuable door prizes cheered up even the worst golfers as the spoils were handed out during the post-golf buffet. Power tools, the latest electronic devices, golf bags and clubs, UNM Lobos gear, tickets to special events and concerts, and restaurant gift certificates were among the many items donated by the loyal supporters of the New Mexico Facility Managers Network. No one left empty-handed. First-timer facility manager James Mason, from the Institute of American Indian Art, quipped: “WOW! Friendly folks, beautiful greens, delicious food and drinks and door prizes for all…….the Facility Manager Association of New Mexico is the place to be!”
